1. Flying to the Region
If you are flying from northern states or Canada, you have several excellent options:
- Yuma International Airport (YUM): Located in Arizona, just 15 miles (a 20-minute drive) from the border. This is the most convenient option, with daily connecting flights from Phoenix and Dallas.
- Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX): Located approximately 185 miles (a 2.5 to 3-hour drive) from the border. A scenic drive along Interstate 8 connects Phoenix directly to Yuma.
- San Diego International (SAN): Located 165 miles (a 2.5 to 3-hour drive) west of Andrade. Driving through the Laguna Mountains along Interstate 8 offers a breathtaking route.
2. Driving & Border Parking
If you choose to drive, plug "Andrade, California 92283" into your GPS. Andrade is the small US border community directly opposite Los Algodones. We strongly advise parking your vehicle on the US side of the border in the secure, gated parking lot operated by the Quechan Indian Tribe (parking is typically $10 per day). Our clinic is located just a short 4-block walk from the pedestrian port of entry, eliminating the hassle of buying Mexican auto insurance or waiting in long vehicle border lanes.
Crossing the Border: Customs & Passports
The Andrade-Los Algodones border crossing is open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM Arizona time. To cross, you must walk through the pedestrian gate. Walking into Mexico takes less than two minutes, with basic customs declarations. When returning to the United States, you must present a valid passport, passport card, or an enhanced driver's license. Pedestrian wait times to re-enter the US typically range from 15 to 45 minutes, though mornings are usually the quietest.
